Disneyland -- Cheap Season Passes for Southern California Residents

Crazy as it may sound; we learned something new on our last trip to Disneyland. In the past we have held various season passes including the Premium and Deluxe passes. However, for this past year we decided not to renew them because we were spending a week in Orlando, Florida at Walt Disney World and knew we would be spending less time at the happiest place on Earth.

However, we found out about a new secret that Southern California residents can use in order to have a season pass for a relatively low price. And, beyond that you can also get a couple of days in the park that are not blocked out!

How does it work? Well, the secret is that when you buy an Disneyland ticket, up until the time the park closes on the last day of validity – you can upgrade it to a season pass. So, what we purchased was a 2-day park hopper ticket that gets you into both the Disneyland and California Adventure parks on our most recent visit.

What that means is that we just need to return to the park on any day in the next 30 days and we will get back into the park. Then, towards the end of that day we can upgrade to the Southern California Select pass for less than $40. Then, we will be able to return to the park over the next year on non-blackout days for free. Beyond that, if we return on a day that is blacked on the pass, we only pay $30 for a blackout day pass. So, if we were to visit Disneyland just once over the next year – even on a blackout day, the pass pays for itself.

This secret technique is a great way to get into the park on any two days, without blackout worries – and then be able to enjoy a season pass for the entire year. Enjoy!
