Motorola RAZR V3 - USB Drivers - Windows XP & Windows 2000 Install 32-bit
Thanks to a recent email, a reader of my blog pointed me to some new and updated drivers for your Motorola V3 RAZR phone. If you are looking to charge your Motorola cellular phone via USB for either Windows 2000, Windows XP Home, or Windows XP Professional -- then this article is for you.
Motorola has recently published on April 12, 2007 their own updated version of the USB drivers for the 32-bit edition of Windows 2000 and Windows XP on their MOTODEV website. While Motorola requires registration, it is an immediate confirmation and access to the page.
1. Visit the Motorola MOTODEV website and to the page for Motorola Handset USB Driver v2.7.6 for Windows (32-bit) OS here and download the drivers. The download file is called Handset_USB_Driver_32_v2.7.6.zip and contains the Microsoft Windows Installer file Motorola_End_User_Driver_Installation_2.7.6.msi.
2. Disconnect your Motorola V3 RAZR phone from the USB cable.
3. Double-click on the Motorola_End_User_Driver_Installation_2.7.6.msi file to start the installation of the USB driver software.
4. Click 'Next' on the screen for "Welcome to the Motorola Driver Installation Setup Wizard".
5. Select the 'I Agree' under the license agreement and click 'Next'.
6. The Motorola Driver Installation is being installed dialog installs the driver.
7. The installation completes and click on 'Close' to exist the installation.
8. Plug in your Motorola V3 RAZR phone and it should work with other USB services.
This guide is compatible with the Motorola V3, V3c, V3i, V3t, V3x, and Motorola V3m. In addition, the drivers should support most Motorola OS, Motorola Linux OS, Motorola iDEN, Motorola Symbian/UIQ, Motorola Windows Mobile® and Motorola i-Mode handsets.

Thanks! Now I can charge my Razor v3i on my PC.
Very helpful, can charge my phone in a pinch anywhere, off my laptop or a friends computer! Thanks!
How ridiculous; all I want is to download some pictures from my phone to my Vista pc.
But first I have to jump through hoops, register as a developer, give fiull personal details, to get the driver.
Will not buy Motorola again.
You're right, it is a little bit crazy. Hopefully in the next release (Motorola V4?) that they will provide this in box with the units. Motorola has to build the software (Mobile Phone Tools - MPT) anyways, why not include it?
Thank you so much for your help! Motorola really needs to make things as user-friendly as you did! :)
thanks for this... i use windows vista 32-bit and didn't have a problem with this driver... my phone charges great!
Dood, you rock. Thanks for the quick tut to get this propriatary POS working. What a crock of BS us consumers have to go through just TO CHARGE YOUR PHONE. WTF?? Motorola.
BTW, you dont have to enter personal info into the dev site. All you have to put is an email address with fake info, if you dont want to release personal info.
I downloaded it and my computer still is giving me problems about it. So I installed it and bla bla bla, but when I connect my phone to the computer it prompts me with the Found New Hardware and after I go through the whole process it says it failed to install because no driver software was found. Help!
thank you very very much! on my home computer i spent hours searching for the drivers, i was so relieved to find your tutorial and link to them for my new computer!
I'd like to add my thanks to those above. It's pretty strange for motorola to cripple it's phone like this. And there I was so happy that I finally had a phone with a standard usb port for charging!
Anyway, thanks for posting this.
hey i downloaded this but it doesnt show my phone in mycomputer
if anyone has any ideas please take the time on emailing me at dotcomwg@hotmail.com
Yep, it works all right, thanks! I was stuck in the middle of Finland with a charging device left at home - now I can keep my RAZR feeding from a laptop, woot!
Thank you so much for this!
This is a bit crazy, damn PCs. I have a MacBook and all I have to do is plug it in and it begins to charge. Maybe we should be giving Windows a hard time and not Motorola
NOW I have to pay you $20.00 for the charger I was going to buy? I can now charge at home(desktop), at work(workstation), and on the road from my laptop. So now I owe you like $60.00?
Yes, I guess you do. :-)
Just go ahead and PayPal the money to my email address at the top of the page. j/k

Dude...youre a lifesaver!!Thanks for the tutorial...Now i dnt need to purchase a charger...Thanks!!!
THANKS SO MUCH!. I still can't believe they won't give you the driver download without creating an account. I don't think I'll ever buy a rzr again.
It is a frustrating thing in this day and age to have to spend hours getting conectivity. I donloaded the file and installed them. got all the screens and when I plug the phone in get the audio that a device has been connected but that is all. The phone charges but what about transfurs? Where do I go to activate the connection as it does not show up as a devie in my computer, nor does it activate any pop up items. Cant find an Icon either.
Thanks for your blog and info. Will pay-pal you a tip for your help.
Thank you very much!
Simple and easy to follow instructions.
Much appreciated.
Thank you! Thank you! Now, I can charge my phone via my laptop. :)
Hi...it's still telling me driver is not recognised :S ahhh! My charger was crushed earlier and my phone is close to dead.... i need it charged.
Does this driver also take care of downloading pics?
Thanks this is very helpful!
However if your phone is totally discharged and dead, it cant connect to begin charging. Any ideas how to do this if phone is fully discharged?
The only way is via either a car or wall charger unfortunately.

Thank You Ken!
I just ordered a Razr and wanted to have the tools to xfer files when it gets here. You've saved me a lot of searching with this tutorial.
It's appreciated!
Dave
Thanks!!
When I connect my phone to the computer after installing the driver it prompts me with the Found New Hardware and after I go through the whole process it says it failed to install because no driver software was found. Can you tell me path to where the driver is saved so I can manually point it to the correct place?
Thanks! I recenty lost my charger and was quite annoyed to find that I could not charge the phone with just a cable. I tried out your instructions and everything works.
It would be nice if Motorola would just give the drivers out without making you register.
I plugged my old generation Razr V3 into the USB port of my Windows Vista Ultimate machine and low and behold, Windows Update downloaded everything by itself! No need to go onto any web site or register anything...Try it (the phone must be on to work..)
hi,
as with others, my phone is charging (as i type) but also as with others, my computer doesn't see the phone so i can't transfer pix or tunes to the phone. any suggestions would be appreciated.
Many thanks for the top tip, I hate having to install the whole suite just to charge the phone. Now I can charge my emergency spare V3 on the road (I must stop breaking my new phones and having to fall back on this old workhorse-LOL)
I still cant upload things =(
Many thanks for the post. Driver works just as described in tutorial! Question though, how do I use it to transfer files, particularly, my phone/contact book? THANKS, again!
you dont have to go through the developer site. you can just search for the file name on google and it will work fine.
thanx man thiss worked now i dont have to go buy another motoola charger....they break so easy
does this driver can transfer skins on my phone?
please help!!
