Sony PSP - Freezes, Restarts, and Fixed?

Starting on my last trip to India, I was putting some good time in on my Sony Playstation Portable (PSP) on the 20+ hours of flying across the Atlantic, Europe, and the Middle East. My game of choice was the recently purchases FIFA 2007 Soccer game by EA Sports. While it was providing some great enjouyment, that is not the subject of this article.

Over the the past couple of weeks, I have been noticing at random that the Playstation Portable would freeze up during the loading of a sequence or screen and then just restart. Sort of making me feel like my PSP was becoming a Windows 95 machine. There seemed to be little warning or pattern to the problem.

I had recently upgraded to the PSP System Software Version 3.51 and wondered if it could be the issue. Today I checked and saw that there is a new a PSP System Software Version 3.52 now available. According to the Sony PSP website:

- New for 3.52: Support for PLAYSTATION®Network titles has been expanded.
- New for 3.50: You can now connect a PSP® system to a PS3™ system via the Internet using [Remote Play].
- New for 3.50: [Communication Settings] has been added as an option to the [Remote Play] menu.
- New for 3.50: [RSS Channel Guide] has been added as a feature under [RSS Channel].
- New for 3.51: A security patch was added to address security vulnerabilities in the system software.

So, I have now applied the patch in addition to giving a nice cleaning with canned air to the system. Hopefully this will fix the PSP reboot and lock / freezing issues I am having.

Have you had this problem? How did you fix it?
