PSP: How to Hard Reset

There are times when your Sony Playstation Portable, or PSP for short may freeze, lock up, starts behaving badly, or even crash and reset. In my case, an occassional reboot or crash while playing or saving a game became a problem for. What you want to do is perform a reset or hard reset rather than just a simply soft reset via the power button or by pulling the battery from your PSP.

If you need to perform a hard reset on your Sony Playstation Portable, then here are the simple steps to complete it.

1. Take your Sony Playstation Portable (PSP) and hold the power switch for approximately 10 seconds.

2. After approximately 10 seconds the Sony PSP will shut off. Leave off for 30 seconds.

3. Flip your power button on your Sony PSP once, and in some cases twice. The Sony PSP will start up and should resume normal performance.

Did this method work for you and bring your PSP back to normal life? If so, let me know with a comment!

Thank you! In the middle of a game, my PSP seemed the think I was always pushing right because the cursor would uncontrollably move that way. Even when I took the game out and was just looking at the main PSP screen, it still scrolled to the right. This hard reset fixed it!! Thanks, so much.

Thank you, sir. My PSP wouldn't turn on, and this fixed it. now it's on and I can use it.

I bet that they say this in the manual, but with a lot more confusing jargon. I wouldn't know, however, I can't find mine. :D
