Derek Fisher Makes me Smile

Tonight I am watching and smiling as the Los Angeles Lakers play against the Denver Nuggets. It’s the fourth quarter and the Nuggets decided to foul Laker’s player Derek Fisher who is shooting 95% from the free throw line this year. Yes, 95%. While the Lakers look like they are going to win, that’s not what makes me smile.

Derek Fisher #2 of the Los Angeles Lakers makes me smile

Seeing Derek Fisher makes me smile. (In fact, he was just fouled again with 8.3 seconds left to seal the victory for the Lakers. Great, he missed a free throw.) Especially since he is a Los Angeles Laker again. Just seeing him at the free throw line in that Los Angeles Lakers Jersey #2 makes me smile – it’s just the way it is supposed to be.

Anyone who is known by 0.4, or the amount of time left on the scoreboard when the Lakers beat the San Antonio Spurs on their way to the NBA title should always be a Laker. (In fact, my father-in-law has a 0.4 shirt now that I think about it.) Forever and ever, and ever.

Ever see Derek Fisher in a Golden State Warriors jersey? Ever see Derek Fisher in a Utah Jazz jersey? Just does not look right. Derek Fisher belongs in a Lakers Jersey and I am just darn glad that he’s back again. I hope you are too!

I cannot wait to see the Los Angeles Lakers take on the Boston Celtics at Staples Center on December 30th. Might I see you there?
