Rather than this being truly a fix, it is really more about the usage differences between a the Nintendo Wii Message Boards and the Memo feature that is included in with the Nintendo Wii.
The quick and sort answer is that if you are a little perplexed on why you cannot reply to a "Memo" on your Wii, it is simply because Memos feature does not support replies, meaning Memos cannot be replied to.
Interested in the reason why?
Memos are created when you are sending a message to another person who uses the same Wii console as you -- meaning internally on the Wii Console. They are visible to anyone who has access to your Wii console at any point in time, and they cannot be replied to.
If you wish to reply to a memo on your Wii console left by another player the work around is to create a new Memo in order to post a response. While it is a little bit clunky, it enables you to effectively "reply" to Memos left on the feature.
By comparison, you can reply to posts made on the Message Board without creating new messages.
