Since the Wii Console has the ability to receive emails certain types of attachments, a common need is to receive or attach images to those emails. While the Wii Console's email feature does support images, that support is relatively limited. In many cases, this means that you may not be able to receive or send emails with images.
In fact, the Wii console is ONLY able to receive images that are in the JPEG or .jpg format. No Bitmap / .BMP, GIF / .gif, PNG / .png, or TIFF / .tif or other common image file formats are supported.
In other cases, depending on how your email provider formats or embeds the images in the actual emails -- they may be returned as undeliverable to the sender or not be viewable in your Nintendo Wii console. This is most common with web-based emails services like Hotmail or Yahoo mail.
This is rather limited and hopefully with an upcoming system release or update, additional graphical and image formats will be supported. But for now, if you want to receive / send emails to the Wii console with viewable images -- make sure the images are in the .jpg (JPEG) format.
