I had to change the user name to WAP@CINGULARGRPS.COM. You can fin the user name under Options-->AdvancedOptions-->TCP. Speedtest.net showed DL rates of 200kbps DOWN and 67kbps UP. I was stuck at the user id and password authentication step before I found your blog...so I just followed the steps you had and changed the APN from what I had, used the user id and password you listed and, <I>voila</I>, I was in.
